According to records from the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office, $5,000 was budgeted for Milton’s 2017 election, and the top vote winner received 176 votes, as reported by WSAZ News. Additionally, voters will enjoy fewer random, political calls/texts/emails/ads periodically at off-times.
Since 2012, records suggest that Milton has budgeted $27,612 to hold local elections. Milton voters should ask what other opportunities could have been funded, or money returned, using a large portion of past election costs. Kudos to Milton and city leaders for putting this on the 2021 ballot.
